Crystals are natural mineral compositions and can begin to break down when exposed to certain elements of nature. Here is a quick list of crystals that should be kept away from sun, water and ingestion. Always do your own research as well!

Some crystals fade when exposed to the sun:

  • Amethyst
  • Aquamarine
  • Aventurine
  • Beryl
  • Citrine
  • Fluorite
  • Kunzite
  • Rose Quartz
  • Sapphire
  • Smokey Quartz

 

Some crystals disintegrate or crack when exposed to water:

  • Amber

  • Kyanite
  • Opals
  • Red coral
  • Selenite
  • Turquoise
Easy way to remember: Many stones that end in “ite” are not water-friendly.
